Medical Students Phyllis Stöhr and Marc Brettel from the University of Freiburg visited Medical AI Center
As part of their overseas training, Phyllis Stöhr and Marc Brettel, medical students from the University of Freiburg, visited the Medical AI Research and Development Center at Hokkaido University Hospital on October 9, 2024, during their short stay at Hokkaido University.
During their visit to the AI Center, they had the opportunity to converse with Associate Professor Kenji Hirata, Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Yoshitaka Bito, and Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Minghui Tang, who provided an overview of the Center’s research activities. Dr. Bito also introduced his own research on “Analysis of Cerebrospinal Fluid Dynamics Using MRI/Low-b DTI.” Additionally, they observed the GPU workstations in operation.
A meaningful exchange of information took place regarding the current state of medical AI and digital transformation (DX) in both Germany and Japan. Phyllis Stöhr and Marc Brettel raised insightful questions about important issues, such as regulations on personal data protection in clinical settings and the extent to which AI should be utilized, which enriched the discussions even further.
The Medical AI Research and Development Center will continue to foster the advancement of medical AI research through such international exchanges.
